Billie Eilish - LUNCH

Billie Eilish’s third album, Hit Me Hard and Soft, is officially upon us, and spoiler alert: It’s full of bangers. Ahead of its release, the Grammy winner had teased tracks off the album at Coachella and hosted fan listening parties in partnership with American Express. And now that it’s finally here, we can indulge in Billie’s latest bops all summer long.

“Dude ‘HIT ME HARD AND SOFT’ my third album is fucking out now i don’t even know what to SAAYY...” Billie wrote on Instagram upon the album’s drop. “@finneas and i put so much into this album and have never ever ever loved something more. we hope you enjoy it so much and i’ll see you on the other side EEEEEEEEEEEEEK HMHAS OUT NOW EVERYWHERE LOVE YOU ALL TO DEAAAAATH!!!!😭😭😭”

While the album opens up with an emotional reflection on self-image called “Skinny,” Billie revealed that she views the second track, “Lunch,” as the actual introduction to the record. Thematically, “Lunch” is the sexy unapologetically queer little sister who doesn’t hold back of “Billie Bossa Nova.” Following her (very public) coming out journey, Billie taps into her queerness and sexuality on the track. Throughout her career, the “What Was I Made For?” singer has been known for staying true to herself, and as she continues to grow—both as a human and as an artist—we’re lucky enough to witness her blossom in real time through her music.
